- May 30, 2015 – Digital Security and Privacy Workshop
1. Exposing the Invisible
The digital age has profoundly transformed the way people find and share information. The Internet is enabling collaboration between activists, hackers and journalists on an unprecedented scale. This has led to previously unimaginable possibilities in investigative reporting. People are newly empowered to uncover hidden information, expose corruption and bring the truth to light.
Through a series of short films, Exposing the Invisible tells the personal stories of those working at the new frontiers of investigation.
In cooperation with Tactical Tech, PECOJON will host the showing of Exposing the Invisible in Cebu City on May 29, 2015.
After watching each film, you can find out more about the tools and tactics used by the protagonists to expose the hidden layers behind problems in their societies. Each film comes with extensive interviews telling the story of each activist or investigator, divided into thematic chapters, as well as a bank of experts to help you follow in their footsteps.
We hope that Exposing the Invisible will inspire a new generation of people committed to transparency and accountability.
We are giving away Visualising Information for Advocacy to the first 10 registrants of the film. Visualising Information for Advocacy is a book about how advocates and activists use visual elements in their campaigns. This 160-page guide features nearly 50 case studies from around the world to provide an introduction to understanding visual information and a framework for using images for influence.

2. Digital Security and Privacy Workshop
Tactical Tech’s work on digital security and privacy builds the digital security awareness and skills of human rights defenders, independent journalists, anti-corruption advocates and activists, and anyone else who is concerned about the security risks and vulnerabilities of digital tools.
Tactical Tech has developed a range of methods from awareness raising and short consultations for participants at large-scale international advocacy events. A variety of techniques including short films, take-home toolkits and exercises engage people in debates about broader questions related to freedom of expression and access to information.
On May 30, 2015 at PECOJON’s Cebu-Hub, a one day workshop on Digital Security and Privacy will provide individuals with tools, techniques and materials on establishing certain levels of digital security and privacy. Tactical Technology will give away copies of the Security In-a-Box – a collection of booklets, hands-on guides, mobile security materials that offer possible explanations as well as solution to the ever tangled web of the Internet.
Registration for the Digital Security and Privacy Workshop has been closed.
